Historical sources and reference materials

The development of materials regarding the *Rurmus* drew upon historical sources concerning early water supply infrastructure, waterwheels, and systems for lifting and transporting water. The primary inspiration for the construction of the *Rurmus* in Osiek Łużycki was the historic Kraków *Rurmus*, which for many years served as one of the most renowned examples of utilizing water power to supply a city with water.

The Kraków *Rurmus* – Kraków’s historic water supply system, which used a waterwheel to lift water from the Vistula River and transport it to the city via wooden pipes.
The noria on the Orontes River in Hama (Syria) – one of the world’s most famous examples of a device used to lift water by harnessing the energy of a flowing river.
The historic water supply system in Frombork, which enabled the lifting and transport of water to Cathedral Hill.
The historic water supply systems of Racibórz, which utilized waterwheels and water towers.

Instead, it represents an original interpretation of historical water supply solutions, based primarily on experience gained from the Kraków *Rurmus* and other historical devices used for lifting and transporting water.
